about

Song Abstract:

The end of this story could be the beginning of a relationship with God. It is depicted by a "Call" to dance when the rhythm of God's song hits the Dance Floor!

She hears the call to an intimate relationship and is faced with a personal decision to accept the divine invitation to dance with her Savior and Creator... but reason and fear try to drown out the LOUD call to this invitation. Depending on her choice... the song becomes either a song of Rejoicing or a song of her Doom. The story ends with a question and the mood scape depicts the tension of being left in a valley of decision.

This song was written to align with theme 4 of the Spiritual Law that we must personally accept God's invitation of grace and relationship.

Liner Notes:

This song was a challenge. it was written in complete form on the piano but lived only in Mikael's head and was not recorded. Every time we attempted to record... something happened. Mikael was constantly feeling sick.

To finish the last track we had to record it a year later from the other 3 songs and after changing jobs etc... with 1 last attempt, I just left my recording equipment in the basement of her room in Forest Falls, Ca.

She completed the piano parts over the beat in her basement/music room. At the time... I was working in a Commissary Freezer and my co-worker and I were sorting the meat locker when I discovered he was leaving to go to Berkley for the music program. Kyle Moffatt came over that weekend and I plugged the line out of the mic preamp into a guitar delay pedal as he wailed away on his saxophone.

This sax part and the piano part together danced together over the track and that alone made the song.

I finally brought my rig back home and Mikael came over sick and sang this song. It actually helped with the mood. I was making her tea and honey to just try and make it through and we didn't talk at all that day. Strictly business to try and finish the song.

Such a striving process but the magic came to completion when after 3 attempts I was able to play 1 long synth bass note over the whole song while turning the resonant filter nob in real time to create the impression that dark clouds were starting to clear.

lyrics

LYRICS:

Verse 1:

You hear it in the evening
And when your fast asleep

You hide behind your reason
I know 'cause it's happened to me

It isn't just inside your head
A ringing in your ears

It can't be drownded out
Not even by your fears

Chorus:

The rhythm of His song has come to you

The choice is yours to make
What will you do?

So will you dance or
will you wait for someone else to?

The rhythm of His song has come to you

Verse 2:

You hear it in the morning
And in the afternoon

The music of Rejoicing
The music of your doom

It isn't just inside your head
A ringing in your ears

It can't be drownded out
Not even by your fears... oh!

Chorus:

The rhythm of His song has come to you

The choice is yours to make
What will you do?

So will you dance or
will you wait for someone else to?

The rhythm of His song has come to you

Outro:

Has come to you... what will you do?
