Song Lyrics Abstract:

Lament is about a girl who finds herself reflecting deep within her being. She Laments about the pain that results from her own sin and failures and the hate in her heart for self and others. She comes to the realization that her deep innate propensity to sin and hate has caught her in a loop of pain.

Instead of denial, she ponders her situation in the form of a question and makes the 1st step towards caring for self.

Seeking relief from the reality that she cannot clean and change her innate being... she seeks for something clean and refreshing like rain to wash her nature clean.

She is beautiful on the outside yet she cries out this lament while staring at reality in the mirror of introspection. She sees the real reflection past her facade and sees the dirt in her heart, mind and soul.

... being completely honest with herself she seeks an external divine voice to answer her lament. (an honest prayer)

She's tired of the numbing passions she has used as substitutes. It's not enough for her honest soul. She finds herself crying out for more and is between the 2 roads of lamenting and repenting. 1 step away from freedom from her destructive self.

Liner Notes:

This song was created in 1 take. A vinyl loop was set and an Arpeggiator synth set the mood while D.M. played the piano/string track. The track beautifully modulates with subtle chord changes reflecting the subtle step toward seeking and asking the right questions.

D.M. wrote and overdubbed the lyrics after the music was created and our intent was to write simple lyrics that aligned with Theme 2 of the 4 Spiritual Laws. We are all sinners and separated from a Holy Divine Nature.
